Goaltender Metropolitan Riveters
A star backstop over four collegiate campaigns, Rachel McQuigge joins the Riveters for her first pro season in the Premier Hockey Federation. A ferocious backstop and proven winner between the pipes, the 24-year-old from Bowmanville, ON has received various accolades in recognition of her play, including three ECAC All-Academic Team honours, as well as an All-Ivy League honorable mention. McQuigge, who played collegiately at Princeton University, is one of 15 new members that make up the 2022-23 Riveters roster, having signed with the team as a free agent on July 7. The PHF’s eighth year will be McQuigge’s first playing hockey professionally in North America.

“I chose to sign a contract with the Rivs at this time of rapid growth in the pro women’s game because I want to be a part of a concerted effort to increase visibility and opportunity for women in sports,” said McQuigge. “I believe that sports are a vehicle for life skills and social change, and women have been under appreciated and left out of this arena for too long.”
“I am excited for the opportunity to continue my hockey career near where I played college hockey,” she said. "At Princeton, we tried to increase visibility and opportunity for connection with female youth hockey in the surrounding area, and I am excited to continue to be able to do that at the pro level.”
